Superintendent
Search Update11/6/09 More than 600 people took time to meet with the superintendent search firm or complete a profile form to assist the Board of Trustees in determining important characteristics required for our new superintendent. The total profile will be ready in a few weeks and will be available online.
The Board will complete the profile and review potential candidate resumes in November. If all goes as planned, the Board will begin interviewing in December and hopes to make an offer after the first of the year.

Forestridge Elementary’s Multicultural Night: Celebrating Diversity11/19/09 Written By: Evan Perry and Nicholas Lemon
Third Graders at Forestridge Elementary
Imagine a night where families from over 13 different countries come together to share food and dance from their native homelands while dressed in traditional clothing. How awesome it is for everyone to enjoy each other’s friendship.
At the annual Forestridge Elementary Multicultural Night, each family brought food from their native country to share with the other families. There was food from the Philippines, Mexico, Vietnam, China, Peru, Ethiopia, Laos, Columbia, El Salvador, Eritrea, Ireland, USA, India, and Costa Rica. Everyone who dressed in their traditional clothing looked awesome, but the winners of the Traditional Dress Contest were the Dube family from Ethiopia.
After the great meal, the multicultural dances started. Kindergarteners did a dance from Denmark called, “The Shoemakers Dance.” It was done with sticks. First Graders did a dance from Hawaii called, “Hawaiian Roller Coaster.” It is a hand game dance done with partners. Second Graders danced to an Italian dance called, “Tarantella.” This dance used bean bags. Then, everyone joined together to do the “Carwash” dance from the U.S.A.
Multicultural Night rocked!
Veteran’s Day at Mohawk11/19/09 Mohawk Elementary students and staff welcomed veterans to school on November 11 to thank them for their service.
The school assembled around the flagpole and patriotic music played while the boy scouts and cub scouts raised the flag.
Everyone then said the pledge and students were read what Veteran’s Day means. The event concluded with students, staff and special guests all singing the National Anthem.
